Kobe Bryant's Death

NBA star Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, and seven others have investigators exploring why the pilot took flight in weather so foggy it had prompted local law enforcement agencies to ground its choppers. An 18-member team from the National Transportation Safety Board, along with help from the FBI, continued on Monday to comb through the wreckage of the 1991 Sikorsky S-76 aircraft that slammed into a hillside on Sunday morning in Calabasas, California, killing everyone on board and sending shockwaves across the globe. Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna "Gigi" Bryant were among those who were instantly killed after the helicopter faded from radar just before 10 a.m. local time on Sunday. Reports of the crash into the steep hillside followed soon after. The helicopter pilot, identified Monday as Ara Zobayan by Los Angeles aviation company Group 3 Aviation, the company that trained him, had climbed to more than 2,000 feet when the aircraft made an unusual and

Current Event: Kevin Duran roasts former teammate on Twitter

Current Event: Kevin Durant, Kendrick Perkins Beef on Twitter During Westbrook Debate Russell Westbrook's return to Oklahoma City was met warmly within Chesapeake Energy Arena, but the same can't be said for the reactions it sparked on Twitter Kendrick Perkins, who played in Oklahoma City alongside Westbrook and Kevin Durant from 2010-14, tweeted that Westbrook is "the best player to have ever put on an Oklahoma City Thunder jersey" and called him "Mr. Thunder." When Perkins was challenged on that notion by Marc D'Amico, who hinted at Durant holding the title, things got chippy. Durant chimed in, taking a dig at Perkins' play: After Perkins brought up the fact Durant left Oklahoma City in free agency to sign with the Golden State Warriors after the Warriors had defeated the Thunder in the 2016 Western Conference Finals, Durant was seemingly bored: However, Durant couldn't leave it at that. "Weak is starting at center, playing real minutes

Current Event: World War 3

Current Event World war 3 World War III (WWIII or WW3) and the Third World War are names given to a hypothetical third worldwide large-scale military conflict subsequent to World War I and II. The term has been in use since at least as early as 1941. Some have applied it loosely to refer to limited or smaller conflicts such as the Cold War or the War on Terror, while others assumed that such a conflict would surpass prior world wars both in its scope and in its destructive impact Due to the development and use of nuclear weapons near the end of World War II and their subsequent acquisition and deployment by many countries, the potential risk of a nuclear devastation of Earth's civilization and life is a common theme in speculations about a Third World War. Another major concern is that biological warfare could cause a very large number of casualties, either intentionally or inadvertently by an accidental release of a biological agent, the unexpected mutation of an agent, or its

Drake's 'Scopion' is a streaming giant

Current Event #6 If there was any doubt before, it is now official: Drake is the king of streaming music. When his 25-track new album, “Scorpion,” was released on Friday, it immediately shattered one-day streaming records at the major services. In its first 24 hours, the album had 170 million streams on Apple Music around the world. On Spotify, where at one point the album was being listened to 10 million times an hour, it logged at least 132 million streams globally, according to unofficial tallies. (Spotify declined to provide specific numbers.) Through Sunday, “Scorpion” had a total of 435 million streams, according to Billboard. That beat the previous weekly streaming record, held by Post Malone with 431 million, in just three days. The promotion for “Scorpion” shows just how intensely the streaming services will compete for the clicks of a major event record. Apple, which has had a close association with Drake for years, put Siri to work with a list of his nicknames. Spoti

Donald Trump, Life of a Zombie Party

Current event #5 Donald Trump, Life of a Zombie Party Oct. 4 was an exciting day. It was a week and a half after the Democratic-led House opened a formal impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump, following a whistle-blower’s complaint alleging that he corruptly pressured Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son. Between the opening of the inquiry and Oct. 4, the White House released a summary of a phone call between Trump and Ukraine’s president, which only seemed to confirm the whistle-blower’s allegations. House Democrats continued to come out in favor of the investigation. And, on Oct. 3, Trump in broad daylight, in front of a gaggle of reporters, openly asked Ukraine and China to investigate Biden. Impeachment at that point was looking almost inevitable. Trump’s abuse of power in this instance was irrefutable. Indeed, it was being affirmed by the abuser himself. So, it was an odd bit of scheduling that throngs of young black conse

How Donald Trump's Obsession With Immigrants Has Shaped His Presidency

Current event #4  How Donald Trump’s Obsession With Immigrants Has Shaped His Presidency  On the morning of Jan. 11, 2018, Senator Richard Durbin, Democrat of Illinois, received a phone call from the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, summoning him to the White House. Durbin had been working for months with Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, on a deal to grant legal status to the so-called “Dreamers” — children who had been brought illegally into the country by their parents when they were very young, had grown up here and knew only the United States as home. The news from Trump was encouraging. “Wow,” Durbin told an aide. “I think we may actually have a deal.”Durbin and Graham — who received a similar call that morning — expected a private meeting with the president, but as they waited in the West Wing lobby a phalanx of hard-liners arrived, led by Stephen Miller, the young mastermind of Trump’s draconian immigration policies. Were they being amb
